HAIINES - TURN

Nostalgic and groovy Haiines’ debut single ‘Turn’ conjures the classy colour and warmth of a summer poolside negroni. While the original vocals are reminiscent of a reworked 1940s gramophone sample, the bouncy bassline and tight house arrangement makes for a fresh and educated taste of disco house.

Perth-based artist Haiines describes her sound as a “poolside pot of paint” sprinkled with some glittery jazz chords, the result being some freakin’ funky dance music.

As a lover of jazz, Haiines’ goal was to find balance in texturing the track with some boisterous and eclectic passing chords to create moments of warmth and balance.

“I wanted to create a sound that I love and that I’m inspired by when it comes to house music, as well as incorporate my vocals so I can introduce myself holistically as an artist.”

Clean transitions and a richness of texture accompany a candid and uncomplicated hook. Filter-rich and tinny Armand Van Helden-style breaks make ‘Turn’ a track that lives to be mixed into a summer set; in other words, the perfect little set booster. Haiines’ goal is to make people groove and feel good - on this, her debut delivers.

More to be released before the end of 2021, stay tuned.
